Plan Spec
Atlanta, GA

Therrell High School is located in southwest Atlanta, and in 2010, Shumate Mechanical renovated the HVAC system for the Atlanta Public School System. This mechanical system consists of 89 Trane fan coil units installed to provide heating and cooling for the classrooms. Outside air for the classrooms is provided by 8 roof mounted energy recovery units (desiccant type) for ventilation and energy conservation. For the administrative offices, gym and cafeteria cooling and heating is provided by 12 roof mounted packaged units. The central plant consists of 2 250-ton single cell cooling towers, 2 250-ton water cooled chillers, 3 gas fired boilers and a heat exchanger to provide a waterside economizer cycle for the plant. Chilled and hot water pumps were also installed to provide flow to all of the heating and cooling equipment. The Direct Digital Control (DDC) system installed on this project per Atlanta Public School guideline specifications is the Trane Tracer Summit which has a full graphical interface.
