HVAC Plan Spec Projects are typically large-scale ventures with complex systems and scope of work that is designed, integrated, and specified by a MEP (Mechanical-Electrical-Plumbing) Engineering firm. Shumate Mechanical is often invited to join the design and construction team during the early phases of these projects to provide assistance or budgetary feedback during the design. To date our team has worked with a variety of engineering and architectural firms to complete projects of all sizes, up to $10,000,000.
Design Build
Shumate Mechanical provides Design Build HVAC services for those projects deemed more appropriate to be handled in a turn-key manner with single source responsibility for design and construction. Typically, these HVAC projects are smaller in size based on contract value and involve less complex systems easily designed and coordinated at the contractor level. Our team has completed Design Build HVAC projects ranging in size from $250 to $2,500,000.
Retrofit
Supporting building owners, property managers, and tenants is very important to Shumate Mechanical. This requires us to meet the wide variety of HVAC challenges faced by our owner-direct customers. Since these HVAC projects are typically performed within existing buildings and directly to the owner, our Sales team is equipped to handle coordination of other trades (such as roofing and electrical power) required to complete the desired HVAC scope. Our sales professionals are experienced and educated on many different HVAC applications and systems, which is a necessity since customers often need a complete evaluation of their existing HVAC systems. Our Retrofit services include equipment replacement, process piping, ductwork, ventilation, controls, and system upgrades for improved efficiency.

Our sales team provides pre-construction services, ranging
from design, estimating and conceptual budgeting for all types of Commercial
HVAC Installation projects. Part of our sales team consists of mechanical
engineers, several who started their careers at Shumate Mechanical right out of
college and have since grown in their knowledge to provide exemplary service.
Others on the team had their start in the field, working as sheet metal, piping
or commercial service technicians. They now use their acquired knowledge in the
bidding process. Together, this group of professionals, many with 10 to 25
years of experience, is ready to work with you on your next project.

Shumate Mechanical provides Commercial Heating and Air Conditioning Installation services throughout the Southeast. Licensed in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and South Carolina our scope as part of your regional team can range from estimation to execution. Our central location in the Atlanta area, enables our Sales & Pre-Construction services to join customer teams throughout Georgia and the surrounding states.
Estimating
Our Sales team is complemented by full-time estimators dedicated to precise take-offs for sheet metal ductwork, controls, piping, and insulation, which are all labor sectors controlled and directly employed by Shumate Mechanical. Since all these areas are self-performed, we have dedicated resources to accurately calculate labor and materials. Our estimators use an automated platform, including digitizers and on-screen graphical interfaces powered by QuickPen software. They generate very accurate cost estimates for our sales team to incorporate into final project bids.
LEED and Energy Analysis
Many of our sales team members are LEED accredited and/or Green Advantage Certified. In addition to other industry relevant education, LEED training and overall awareness of many Green initiatives has been important for Shumate Mechanical, allowing our team to support pre-construction services on projects that are striving for LEED certification. We assist with budgetary analysis associated with various system upgrades required for LEED projects as well as participate as part of a project team completing on-line LEED credit documentation. Capable of providing Energy modeling and comparative analysis, Shumate Mechanical is prepared to assist customers "Going Green".
