Sarah Smith Primary Center is an elementary school in the Atlanta Public School system. The 67,000 square foot project has 42 Trane water source heat pumps installed to provide heating and cooling for the classrooms. Outside air for the classrooms is provided by a Greenheck roof mounted energy recovery unit (desiccant type) for ventilation, dehumidification and energy conservation. For the administrative offices, media center, cafeteria and gym areas cooling and heating are provided by 10 roof mounted packaged units. A 1,530 MBH gas fired boiler is installed with a ¾ HP hot water boiler pump in order to maintain loop water temperature. This process allows constant water temperature in the condenser water loop for the water source heat pump. There is a total of 3 Trane split systems installed to provide cooling for other essential areas of the building. The Building Automation System (BAS) installed at Sarah Smith Primary Center is a full Trane Direct Digital Control (DDC) system.
